Ryan's Blog

From March 2009 to April 2010 Ryan taught English in Magdeburg, Germany, to people of all ages. It was during this stint that he became interested in education reform, especially reform advocated by Ken Robinson, who spoke at TED in June 2006. In his speech, Robinson suggested that today's public schools kill creativity rather than support it.

Today, Ryan blogs about a variety of subjects including self- improvement, long-distance running, and social media. He is an avid traveler and has plans to continue to see and write about his travelling experiences. Education also continues to be an interest of his, and on occasion, Ryan has the pleasure to consult with new teachers and share his thoughts on education in public schools today.

Prior to moving to Germany, Ryan had a successful sales career at a third-party logistics firm. In addition to brokering transportation, he trained newer sales reps, and served on a management committee that reformed the whole sales process at the company. Nine years after he began his career there, he followed his passion for German across the pond.
